Most people know that greenhouse gases are responsible for climate change, but many don’t know exactly what they are. Greenhouse gases are gases in the Earth’s atmosphere that trap heat. These gases allow the sun’s energy to enter the atmosphere, but they prevent some of the heat from escaping back into space.

The Earth’s natural greenhouse effect is vital to our survival. Without it, the Earth would be a frozen wasteland. Greenhouse gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane help to keep the Earth’s surface warm enough for us to live.
However, human activity is causing the Earth’s greenhouse effect to intensify. We’re emitting more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than ever before. These emissions are trapping more heat and causing the Earth’s temperature to rise.
Climate change is the result of this intensifying greenhouse effect. It’s causing the Earth’s average temperature to rise, and we’re seeing more extreme weather events like hurricanes, floods, and droughts.
We need to do something about climate change. Reducing our emissions of greenhouse gases is the best way to slow down the intensification of the Earth’s greenhouse effect. We can do this by using cleaner energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and protecting natural systems like forests that absorb greenhouse gases.
